With inward displacement, it is possible to derive information to describe mechanical dispersion

Inward Displacement allows the assessment of mechanical dispersion, a parameter that defines possible inhomogeneities in the LV contraction over the various segments.

In addition, since Inward Displacement (InwD) is measured based only on endocardial border tracking, there is no need to also track the epicardial border. This is an advantage over radial strain, which requires epicardial border tracings as well.
