Leiden, the Netherlands – June 17, 2025 — Medis Medical Imaging, a global leader in advanced solutions for cardiovascular imaging, proudly announces the appointment of Martijn van Lavieren, PhD as Head of Clinical Strategy and Business Development.
Martijn joins Medis with a strong track record in the MedTech industry, having held leadership roles at Philips where he drove innovation at the intersection of clinical science and business development. With a background in coronary physiology research and deep experience in the field of image-guided therapy, he brings valuable insight into how to translate clinical data into meaningful innovation for physicians and patients alike.
In his new role, Martijn will lead Medis’ interventional clinical strategy, strengthen collaborations with clinical and academic partners, and support the company’s commercial growth as it expands its global footprint. His appointment comes at the moment that image-based physiology is becoming the standard in coronary care.
“I’m excited to join Medis at a moment when angio-derived physiology is reaching a tipping point,” said Martijn van Lavieren. “Interventional teams today face increasing time and cost pressures, while the demand for more advanced, physiology-guided PCI diagnosis and planning is becoming more urgent. Tools like QFR are built for this reality — offering fast, reliable diagnostic insight without the need for invasive instrumentation. By simplifying access to comprehensive physiology data, we give clinicians more time to focus on delivering optimal treatment, while lowering the barriers to adoption. I look forward to working with our team and global partners to help bring these solutions into daily practice, where they can truly benefit patients.”
Maya Barley, CEO of Medis Medical Imaging, commented: “We’re thrilled to welcome Martijn to the Medis leadership team. His strategic mindset, strong clinical background, and proven ability to bridge science and business make him a perfect fit for this pivotal role. With Martijn on board, Medis will continue to lead the market in QFR clinical evidence generation and accelerate our global expansion.”
Martijn’s appointment underscores Medis’ continued commitment to translating clinically validated science into accessible, intuitive tools that support confident decision-making in interventional cardiology.
