Dr Barbara Buckhardt and team from the Pediatric Heart Center at the Zurich University Children’s Hospital in Zurich, Switzerland have established normal pediatric myocardial T1 values by Smart1Map and compared these with T1 by MOLLI sequence. They included a total group of 43 children and adolescents (8-18 years of age), and used the Medis Suite MR solution for these measurements. They found that the T1 values were longer by Smart1Map than by MOLLI in all measured locations. Septal vs total myocardial T1 values in each slice did not differ by MOLLI, nor by Smart1Map, after artifacts had been carefully excluded.
The authors concluded that they had establised pediatric native T1 values using the Smart1Map sequence and compared the results with T1 mapping with MOLLI.
